Fishing the last few weeks.

I've managed to get out a few times the last couple of weeks. I targeted largemouth and pickerel. Went to Harwood mills reservoir with Justin and Forrest. I was trolling on my way out when I got my first hit. After a few good runs and an aerial display, I landed my first citation pickerel. It measured 25" and weighed in at 3 lbs 15oz. I caught 1 other pickerel that was a little smaller then nothing for a few hours. After what seemed like forever without a bite, I was working a suspending jerkbait in 3-4 feet of water and got slammed. The fish hit on the pause. It was a 19" 4lb 5oz largemouth. After that I caught 1 more bass. Justin ended up with 3-4 bass, the biggest being 5lbs, and 3 pickerel. Fast forward a week or so. I went down to Gloucester to help my father-in-law move some things from storage. I had heard that Beaverdam was on fire so we grabbed our gear and headed to the lake. We fished off of the floating dock. I really don't like fishing off of docks but this time was an exception. The day we went was super windy, 20-30 mph with 40 mph gusts. Despite the wind, we managed 3 bass a piece, all over 3 lbs. My biggest went 3 lbs 12 oz. Bobby's biggest went 3 lbs 10 oz. The next day we went again, however there was hardly any wind. We saw why the bass were so thick around the floating pier. We gazed into the water and saw literally thousands of shad slowly swimming around the dock. Every once in a while, you would see bass from 3-5 pounds dart through the school, feeding. We caught a few shad and started fishing. Just about every bass we caught was over 3lbs again. My biggest 4lbs 5oz, Bobby's 3lbs 12oz. The guy fishing next to us caught 2 bass just under 7lbs, one 5 pounder, and a few in the 4lb class. It was a great day of fishing, but it all came to an abrupt end when the wife called;) We got to the dock around 845am. We were supposed to only fish for around an hour then leave. It was 130pm when she called:) Here are some pics.
Just a hair over 25"

  1. I love the picture of that gold bass! Good work. Hopefully the rest of the year will be just as productive.
